Our team is a supportive environment in which we build each other up in both confidence and in faith so that we can be in the best position to build up and encourage others.

Tony Pudner – Centre Director

Tony is a man on a mission and a man with vision. His passion to see young people in the local area unleash their natural God-given potential, has been a driving force behind all that you see today. Tony is an entrepreneurial individual having founded 4 companies. His reliance on God, his wisdom and his willingness to put in the determination, time and energy to see things succeed has been the key behind such success. Tony’s attention to detail and desire to see a job done well has resulted in the high quality of facilities and instruction that is found at Oakwood today. He also has a real passion for the outdoors having climbed Aconcagua and Mont Blanc and alsocompleted the three peaks challenge in the UK.

Mark Bristow – Chief Instructor

Mark is our Chief Instructor and he oversees the safe running of the activities at Oakwood. Also, if you are coming for a residential stay he will be the person looking after the smooth running of your stay. He has 10 years experience working in the outdoor industry in England and Wales in both instructing and managerial positions and is qualified in a wealth of different outdoor disciplines. Mark works hard to ensure that you receive the best experience we can offer here at Oakwood. His enthusiasm for life and passion to see lives changed has made him a dynamic, inspiring and much respected leader of our team of instructors. He is a quiet encourager; meeting people where they are at and inspiring them to believe they can achieve even more. He also has a personal passion for sailing, surf kayaking and climbing big rock climbing routes in the mountains.

Lee Layton-Matthews – Safeguarding Officer and Instructor

Lee has wide life experience from working with Aids orphans in South Africa, recovering Heroin addicts in the UK and being a Pastor at Kerith Community Church. He has led youth and adult missions to Albania, Serbia, Kosovo, Lithuania and Zambia. He is currently studying part time for a degree in Counselling and has vast experience of working with disassociated young people. He has worked with a wide variety of groups from corperate teams to school children. He has a real passion for seeing people grow into the individuals and teams that they have the potential to be. Lee also has a personal love of surfing, hiking and biking and has a qualification in Mountain Boarding

Marija McKean – Administrator & Instructor

Marija is the friendly voice you will hear when you give us a call and she keeps all our bookings in order! Her passion for people can easily be seen when instructing or dealing with residential groups. Her enthusiasm for young people has led her to be the leader of a youth band at Kerith Community Church and to be one of the core leaders at LIFE the youth group there. She has a degree in singing from the Academy of Contemporary Music, as music is one of her biggest passions. She has recently taken up climbing as has a qualification in Mountain Boarding.

Steve Benton – Impact Youth Club Overall Leader

Steve co-ordinates our youth group for young people in years 7-10 on a Tuesday evening. He is dynamic and energetic and has a huge passion for sharing God’s love with young people in the local area. Steve works as a Sales Manager during the day and has two kids with his wife Julie. His excitement for God is infectious and he has a real gift for connecting with young people.

Kieran Marriott – Trainee Instructor

Kieran has been volunteering and working for Oakwood for the past three years. Oakwood has changed Kieran’s life. From been disinterested at school Kieran went on to finish his GCSEs and is now studying at BCA to become an outdoor pursuits instructor. Kieran is a real Oakwood success story and we are honoured to have been able to play a part in helping him to grow into the young man he is today. Kieran is a great encourager, which is clearly visible when you see him instructing young people. He has great patience and a real desire to help children overcome their fears. He currently holds a qualification in Mountain Boarding and is working towards several others as part of his college course.
