Our team is a supportive environment in which we build each other up in both confidence and in faith so that we can be in the best position to build up and encourage others.

Tony Pudner – Centre Director

Tony is a man on a mission and a man with vision. His passion to see young people in the local area unleash their natural God-given potential, has been a driving force behind all that you see today. Tony is an entrepreneurial individual having founded 4 companies. His reliance on God, his wisdom and his willingness to put in the determination, time and energy to see things succeed has been the key behind such success. Tony’s attention to detail and desire to see a job done well has resulted in the high quality of facilities and instruction that is found at Oakwood today. He also has a real passion for the outdoors having climbed Aconcagua and Mont Blanc and alsocompleted the three peaks challenge in the UK.

Mark Bristow – Operations Director

Mark is our Operations Director and he oversees the safe running of the activities at Oakwood Outdoors and Oakwood Climbing Centre. He has 14 years experience working in the outdoor industry in England and Wales in both instructing and managerial positions and is qualified in a wealth of different outdoor disciplines. Mark works hard to ensure that you receive the best experience we can offer here at Oakwood. His enthusiasm for life and passion to see lives changed has made him a dynamic, inspiring and much respected leader of our team of instructors. He is a quiet encourager; meeting people where they are at and inspiring them to believe they can achieve even more. He also has a personal passion for sailing, surf kayaking and climbing big rock climbing routes in the mountains.

Mike Van Vledder – Outdoor Manager

Mike is your friendly contact when you come for your activity day or  residential stay ensuring the smooth running of your time here at Oakwood. He is probably one of the happiest people you will ever meet and his enthusiasm spreads throughout everyone he comes into contact with ! Mike is qualified in many different outdoor activities including mountain boarding, archery , mountain biking as well as climbing.

Lee Layton-Matthews – Safeguarding Officer and Instructor

Lee has wide life experience from working with Aids orphans in South Africa, recovering Heroin addicts in the UK and being a Pastor at Kerith Community Church. He has led youth and adult missions to Albania, Serbia, Kosovo, Lithuania and Zambia. He is currently studying part time for a degree in Counselling and has vast experience of working with disassociated young people. He has worked with a wide variety of groups from corperate teams to school children. He has a real passion for seeing people grow into the individuals and teams that they have the potential to be. Lee also has a personal love of surfing, hiking and biking and has a qualification in Mountain Boarding

Julie Newlove – Administrator & Instructor

Julie is the friendly voice you will hear when you give us a call and she keeps all our bookings in order! As well as working in the office, Julie also instructs and loves to help people overcome their fears and achieve goals that they did not believe were possible. Her passion to help, encourage and care for people is apparent in both her roles here at Oakwood. Julie is also currently training as a sports massage therapist alongside her current role as she wishes to be able to help prevent injuries in athletes of all kinds. She has put this into practice already at the London Marathon and the lucky staff at the climbing centre!
